Kapil Dev joins Territorial Army,Nana Patekar follows.
Kapil Dev, ex-Indian cricket captain, got commissioned into the Territorial Army (TA) as an honorary lieutenant colonel on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. A ceremony was organized at the Army Headquarters in New Delhi where Indian Army chief General Deepak Kapoor attached the badges signifying the rank on Kapil Dev's shoulders.
At the Territorial Army headquarters mess a felicitation ceremony followed. It was attended by top officials who have for years been serving as members of the Territorial Army. Some important names include Major (retired) Subir Saha, the former Chairman and Managing Director of the ONGC and Brigadier KP Singh Deo, a former Cabinet Minister.

A proud Kapil Dev looking every bit an officer in his resplendent army uniform, said, 'This is my second innings. Earlier I fought for the country in my white uniform. Now, I will do the same in my olive green army uniform. Kapil Dev, 50, was commissioned into the 150 TA (Infantry) battalion of the Punjab Regiment. His wife and daughter were also present during the felicitation ceremony.

Kapil, 50, was commissioned into the 150 TA (Infantry) battalion of the Punjab Regiment. "I am proud that I have been given this rank. It took six months for the things to materialise, with the file moving from the home ministry to the defence ministry," said Kapil, as his wife and daughter looked on.
