JEE Main 2017 Exam Pattern –   JEE Main 2017 is a most competitive engineering entrance examination for the engineering colleges in India. The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is a two stage examination – Main as well as Advanced conducted by CBSE Board. The proposal of  THE Ashok Mishra committee set up by THE Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD) recommended the addition of an Aptitude Test for IIT after which 4 lacs student will be selected  for JEE as well as the 40,000 students will be offered  with a rank for admission in  HE IITs, NITs as well as other centrally funded institutes. JEE Main 2017 Exam Pattern

The JEE Main of the year 2017 exam will be composed of two papers i.e. paper 1 (for engineering) as well as paper 2 (for architecture). The Paper 1 will be made up of total 90 objective type questions from the subjects like Physics, Chemistry as well as Mathematics subjects. Changes in the formation of JEE From 2017

  • A committee of National Testing Service will be set up to carry out an Aptitude Test, for testing scientific aptitude as well as innovative thinking ability. The computer based aptitude test might be conducted 2 or more times in a year. Based on the performance, regarding 4 lakh candidates shall be short-listed for taking the JEE.

The JEE itself will be on the lines of the present JEE (Advanced) as well as designed to test the knowledge in  the Physics, Chemistry as well as Mathematics. From this, ranks will be issued to 40,000+ students who can look for admission in IITs as well as NITs based on a common counselling.

  • For   2017, the practice of two-tier JEE exam will be sustained. The top 2,00,000 students from JEE (Main) will be allowable to appear in JEE (Advanced).

  • More than 40,000 ranks will be issued in the  JEE (Advanced).

  • Joint counselling for IITs as well as NITs will be continued.

  • Board marks will not add up for offering  rankings this year for NITs, CFTIs, etc.

  • The Government has determined to place the advice of the Report in the public domain for widespread consultation with the stakeholders.
